Does tattoo removal hurt using Laser technology?

The amount of pain felt will depend on the type of tattoo to be removed, the amount of treatments required and your own pain threshold. Some clients describe tattoo removal as no more than uncomfortable, where others would describe tattoo removal as an elastic band being flicked repeatedly against the skin. But the truth is you will only know how painful you find your tattoo removal until you try it! We can offer advice on pain relief, which will be given during your consultation.

Does laser tattoo removal cause scarring?

Although there is a risk a of scarring with any laser tattoo removal, in most cases scarring is not a significant risk with the ND YAG tattoo laser removal process. The risk of scarring is mainly associate with genetic pre-disposition to forming scar tissue. To reduce this risk, we carry out an extensive medical evaluation to identify high-risk clients.

How soon can I see my tattoo fading - when can I see results?

While it is possible to see immediate results of tattoo removal, usually the fading of a tattoo occurs gradually over time. It usually takes between 6-8 weeks healing process between laser tattoo removal treatments and depending on the size and depth of the tattoo it may take up to 6 treatments to see significant results with the tattoo.

What sort of care should I take after a laser treatment for tattoo removal?

After you have had laser tattoo removal you will feel discomfort and soreness for a few days, the area around the tattoo will be raised and red but this fades quite quickly, it feels like a bruise.

You must keep the treated tattoo area out of the sun until it is healed which usually takes one to two weeks depending on your body’s natural healing process.

After laser tattoo removal, we recommend using Pure Aloe Vera gel which in our experience is the most effective way of helping the skin to heal fast, and it will leave a dry covering over the area so it reduces the risk of clothes rubbing and there is less chance of irritation.
